About Helping Hands Chiropractic & Wellness Center

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat musculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, general pain in the joints and muscles of the arms or legs and headaches.

Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

Chiropractic is one of the most misunderstood professions. This is not surprising since we offer a different perspective when it comes to your health. There's a good chance someone has questioned your decision to seek chiropractic care over more traditional medical treatments. Often it is someone close to you; a spouse, close friend or even a coworker who does so in the best intentions. It has been our experience that those questions come from a lack of understanding what we do. We take a natural holistic based approach to your health care without the use of drugs or surgery. We work with your body to repair and maximize natural pain free motion so you can get back to the activities and life you enjoy.

Dr. Robert Steenbergen

Dr. Robert Steenbergen DC is a chiropractor serving the Coeur D'Alene Id and surrounding communities. He received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from the University of Western States in 2014 after earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Biology. Dr. Steenbergen first discovered the benefits of Chiropractic and other alternative medicine fields at a young age after a car accident. He continued to utilize chiropractic care as a young athlete to improve his performance as a wrestler and football player.

Dr. Steenbergen uses chiropractic care to improve the health and wellness in all areas of patient's lives, whether they are having problems with back or neck pain, or just want to start feeling better. He takes a "whole person" approach in chiropractic care, which means looking for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort, and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Dr. Steenbergen is able to help you accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.
Dr. Steenbergen is also a certified in the Functional Movement Screen.

The FMS movement patterns are designed to provide observable performance of basic loco motor, manipulative and stabilizing movements by placing an individual in positions where weaknesses and imbalances become noticeable if appropriate mobility and motor control is not utilized. If these basic principles are not present it may present as imbalances in the movement patterns but may also identify muscular asymmetries, movement asymmetries, spinal imbalances or major limitations in functional movement patterns.

Movement quality is an essential component to reducing the risk of injury and reaching optimal levels of performance whether that is in your everyday life, hobbies or as an athlete. He uses this information to help root out the source of these imbalances to create a personal corrective chiropractic and wellness plan to correct these problems.

On a personal note, Dr. Steenbergen loves the outdoors which is perfect for the Coeur D'Alene area. You may see him out on the mountains snowboarding, on the lakes or in the woods fishing and hunting or doing other activities outdoors. He also enjoys biking, working out, playing sports and almost all forms of exercise.
